Too heavy? How about a vintage weight reducing session with a 3/8" drill? TT pipies would be cool too.
Don't see why Triumph had to give it about the same hp as the old 650 while adding about 100lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if a 1968 650 Bonnie was faster than this one. You're spot on about how influential McQueen was amongst us teenagers back then. Harleys were for old guys, cops and Hell's Angels, which none of us wanted to be. Getting a Bonnie or a BSA Llightning was the ultimate dream before Honda brought out the CB750.

There is an inherant coolness with this bike but it really does need new world specs. Lose the weight develop the product keep the styling. When I take the Ortega to Elsinore I think about McQueen. He had a lot to do with my love for motorcycles. Well done Gentlemen.

Excellent, I would prefer the 360 degree engine like my T100 had however everything else about the bike works for me. Ditto on the Arrow can or at least TOR's if they still make them. A fart in a bathtub is actually louder then the stock Bonnie pipes.
As my esteemed but elderly associate Dr. Seruzawa said the Trophy which this model is fashioned after, actually any Norton, Bonnie or BSA was the bike to have when we were nippers. Calling Harleys Hogs back then was not meant as a compliment or a cutsy riders club slogan, nobody rode those pigs except cops and outlaws which is of course why they needed AMF to bail them out in the first place. I used to accompany my dad to Dragers or Pokes in Seattle buying parts for his Tiger and just hang around drooling over the new bikes on display from the afore mentioned Norton, Triumph and BSA, (sniff) those were the days I tell ya, (grumble grumble)... Anyway Kool bike, nice homage to the Koolest Kat around and one I'd love to find in my garage one of these days.

At the same time I tested a 2001 Bonnie, back when it had a 790cc motor, and it did the quarter in 13.5 secs.

In the sidebar: "Bullitt" hasn't enough "t's". I would Correct that, or fans are liable to excoriate you for it.
Otherwise? The article makes me want one. And I've already GOT more motos than I can ride in a week....
