Went to a Bike Night in Portland (ME) last night. The Sportster and my middle-aged ass were a tad out of place in a sportbike crowd whose demographics could best be described as "extras from the Zion rave party scene in Matrix: Reloaded."

I won a t-shirt with a picture of a four-wheeler and the slogan "I (heart) Strippers". I have no idea what that means, but I'll treasure it forever.

Lowlight of the night - Checking out a beautiful Ducati Panigale, when a douchey twenty-something self-appointed chickenstrip inspector pointed them out to me with a contemptuous, "If this wuz my bike, they'd be gone on day one, dude." OK, Valentino.

Highlight of the night - This overheard conversation:

"Yo, who are those two hot chicks over there? I'd hit that so hard..."

"One of them is Sully's girlfriend. The other one is my sister."

"Oh, sorry, dude..."

The reward of attending these things is you get to see first hand the reality of others. You are indeed a brave man sir.

Always interesting to see how the other half lives.....

I always have fun at Harley Biker events showing up in a Hi Viz 'stitch or a pair of Kahkis or something. Since I look like a psychotic axe murderer they don't say much but I'm definately out of uniform..

How do the squids ever get out when it's always raining in OR? Seems they'd have to wash their bike the minute they arrived at a Bike Night.

It's only a 3 month season if you're a wimp. The crusty new englander crowd goes 7-12 months depending on how hardcore they are. Personally, I draw the line at solid H2O.
