Sounds like a sweet bike with loads of cool features. Love the adjustable ECU.

Come on Kaw, build an enduro version of these bikes. The KLX 450 is long in the tooth and uncompetitive. A really good running 250 with some fuel capacity, the right gear ratios and an 18" rear wheel would be a weapon off road. Why let the Euro manufacturers have all the fun.

Is there any dirt bike or review I don't like? Hardly any. Another bike to add to the list. Great.......

Or - Pick up your fav 4-stroke MXer with a blown engine. They are plentiful. Then by hook or crook obtain a CR500 engine and with some clever fabrication install it. Then wave bye-bye to every 4stroke off roader and never worry about the engine eating itself.

Cool bike, but the old 500s are actually kinda cumbersome to ride. A modern 300 2 stroker is the way to go. They blend the power of the 500s with the handling of a 250. My buddy has a GasGas EC 300 and it is heaven on knobbies.

Met a Honda dealer from Montana who had a 2004 CR 250 with a CRF250X 6 speed trans in it. He said the 4 stroke WR gearbox went right into the 2 stroke 250's cases with minimal machining. Rode the bike, it was flat out awesome!

I have an '01 CR250 in the garage. It never gets hot and keeps on running. It has a flywheel and a big tank on it. The tall MX oriented 1st gear is a bit of a pain, but it is not crippling. The bike is a weapon off road and modern 2 strokes are indeed durable as hell.

KTM is selling a lot of 300 XC 2 strokers these days. They are great bikes. Seems a 2 stroke revival is underway.
