"the burly lumpity lump sound emanating from its dual chrome exhaust pipes; and their over/under orientation give this little Star some big bike attitude."
That feature alone will probably close the deal for any number of would-be "Bikers." I'll wager Yermamaha put a lot of R&D into getting the sound just right.

I'm shocked that Suzuki STILL hasn't certified the TU for sale in California, the single largest motorcycle market in the U.S. As a fuel-injected bike why is it so difficult to do so?
I like the styling of the TU over the Star 250 but should add that I used to have a Virago 535 and it was a great reliable bike. I got it from a good friend who used to do cross country trips on the bike. I guess he must have been a bigger masochist than I because I couldn't have imagined doing that but it was a fun, light, and attractive little bike. I used to ride about 15 miles each way to work on it and it was a supremely easy little package to ride. I wasn't a hugely experienced rider at the time, though I did have a Hawk GT prior to the Virago. The Hawk spoiled me, though, as I never really warmed to the seating position or handling of the Virago. Does the "Star" name really carry much brand equity? I think it would be preferable to leave the tank plain or just put some sort of stylized letter on there than "Star." "Hey, cool custom tank, is that your stripper girlfriend's name on there?" |

Good question! Quite bizarre how they haven't yet managed to bolt on a charcoal canister.
