Nice review.

It would be better if you could test the new Piaggio BV350 scoot.
Same engine as the x10 350, but 60lbs lighter and available RIGHT NOW! at CA/USA dealerships.

You may have already known this, but as just an FYI; Tor Sagen is a Freelancer working for MO in teh Europes...

It's a beautiful scoot. I just took a look at the BV 350. I think I'm gonna get me one. After pondering these bigger scoots for quite some time now, I finally realized that a 350 is probably the way to go. It just seems right to me, whereas a 500 or larger seems like overkill for a scoot.

I thought I read that they were not going to offer ABS or ASR on U.S. models - is that right? If so, it bears mentioning in the article IMHO.

You're thinking of the BV350 (Beverly 350 in Europe) which won't have either ABS or traction control on U.S. models. Piaggio hasn't announced U.S. availability for the X10.

Which is why I think they should test the BV350 here in the US, which is available now.
Instead of getting a contributor's take on a bike that is not available.

The BV would be much more fun to ride with the same engine and much less weight.

There is one downside to scooters that would make me reluctant to buy one. They are impossible to bump start.

Isn't that true of almost every bike these days? With fuel injection, you have to have fuel pressure. To get fuel pressure, you have to run a fuel pump. To run a fuel pump, you have to have electricity. To have electricity...well, you get the idea. I guess if everything but the starter motor was working you could bump a bike off, but usually you're doing that 'cause the battery is dead.

I hope someday in the US scooters will overcome their "gay" stigma. I'm willing to be a lot of guys here won't buy one because they're concerned about being perceived as "light in the loafers."
