Well, buy one that doesn't if bump starting is your concern...

Some scoots, like the Genuine Buddy model (I had a BlackJack) have kick starters as well as the CVT transmission. I kicked mine over when I bought it used with a dead battery. The previous owner let it sit in the garage unattended for over a year.
That handily replaces bump starting.

When gas prices really go through the roof around 2014, the "gay stigma" will be replaced with "I wish I was man enough to ride a 2 wheeler in traffic and save gas like that" image.

I will probably get one of these in retirement, for general running around and such. No disposable income of any sort now, as prepping to have 2 kids in college is gonna completely break me...
