A small booklet arrived in the mail yesterday. The cover has a photo of a modified VFR and "LIMITER" across the top. Inside:

"On the roads it was a white-line nightmare. Modern cowboys on a dystopian frontier. It was a time when mobility equaled survival."

And more idiotic post-apocalyptic BS, with a bunch of photos of scraggly looking guys and gals with guns. Wearing $600 Icon jackets and $400 Icon boots. Maybe they robbed the store?

You too can be cool. Page 19 has "An invitation to a secret society - a ($400) jacket for those in the know."

Wait, I shouldn't have told you that...it's a secret.

I've been getting them for about a year-and-a-half now - they're mailed in concert with behind-the-scenes video and pics of photoshoots/publicity stunts they do on a regular basis. I was amused a few months-ago with the "El-Dorifto Sheriff's Car/Dorifto Triumph/ratbike", then they crashed the car (Professional Driver, Closed Course, Do Not Attempt).

But then, I've been an icon customer for years, too.

HOWEVER, I think most of the stuff they've got nowadays is a tad "overpriced", even if some of it is pretty damn cool (the TiMax V1.0gloves I have still look like they'd make Sauron weep with envy). I don't like the V2.0, though.

Me too, I've got 3 pairs of their heavy-duty riding pants, I had their Chukka boots (and plan to get another pair this Summer) and a few other items. But this ad campaign and their recent prices may annoy me enough to prevent future purchases.

Icon is Affliction with elbow pads.

You can get the same effect for less money by buying generic gear and writing "DOUCHE" on your forehead with a Sharpie.

I understand. Some of their stuff is styled a bit too "Butch" for some-people's taste.......
