Having been on my brothers 650 I've come to the conclusion that I like being "on" a bike instead of the feeling of being "in" the bike.

Doesn't do anything a DR650 won't do for both 50lbs and $2600 less.
Repeat after me: Off-road means LESS weight.

C'mon guys, let's not be so harsh! After all, Sertão is the new Dakar.
It seems like a pretty neat bike to me. Especially for someone who wants that BMW Roundel on their tank but may not be a Boca orthodontist (remind me to tell you about my kid's ortho sometime...imagine 24 hotties slaving away over hot braces). Back to the story: Mr. Hyde says: "few owners of the world-traveling Beemer possessed the skills necessary to allow them to fully unleash the potential of the GS" which is, of course, true for 90% of riders on 90% of bikes, myself included. Given that, how much stuff breaks and how much does it cost to fix when you throw the bike down on the rocks? Then again, there's always the Twisted Throttle catalog. Last thought: if you don't like the factory gearing, it's got sprockets!

426 lbs is absolutely absurd for a dual sport with a 650 single engine. I don't care what else they've done, unless they can carve 50 lbs off of that wet weight, at least, it won't end up in my stable which includes a lot of ds bikes. Hell, this weighs more than my old style KLR wet.
