Default Jacked the Iron up 2"

Just finished putting 13" Progressive 440s on my 883 Iron. Now the bike is actually a functional motorcycle. Looks pretty aggressive with a touch of cafe.

Instead of draggin' its ass like a dog on a carpet, the rear end is up in a position that Buz would no doubt characterize as "presenting."

The sidestand is now too short, and I'm too cheap to buy a new one, so I'm thinking of JB Welding a hunk of metal to the bottom of the sidestand foot. Sound kosher?

Doesn't cost much to take it off and have someone weld a bloc on it. Then you never have to worry about it again. JB weld will fall off at the most inopportune time.

I'm with Seru here. That, or drill & bolt up a block of aluminium.

Kenneth came to the rescue before I could.

You could get a rad one that looks like a claw or something too.

Default Thank Goodness

I thought you might consider turning the 880 into a nitro burnin mud monster. Glad to hear that is off the table. Or is it?

The other problem I noticed is that the deployed angle is steeper now, so it looks like a gentle forward push could fold up the kickstand and dump the bike. I think I'm going to go with Airhawk's bolted-on aluminum block idea and extend it forward a little as well. That's pretty easy to file and grind.

Well, I just frigged around in the garage to see if I could tip the bike forward off the stand, and it turns out there's a locking mechanism that engages when there's pressure on it. It ain't going anywhere.

So now I just have to fit it with an aluminum elevator shoe. Or as Buz would say, a high heel.

Well Harleys might be primitive in some ways but their locking sidestands are top notch. Wish the Tiger had one.

If you plan on grinding aluminum you better have some extra wheels handy, ally will ruin grinding wheels in no time flat.

Proggressive shocks and fork springs work wonders for Sportsters, that's the single biggest improvement I made on my '78, glad to see it still works. Makes all the difference in the world
