There are people for whom 37K is a months earnings - on their investments. These bikes are for them. They tend to work in the financial industries and are the same guys who brought us the great recession. Nice to see they are doing OK these days as Wall St. closes in on 13K. Feel free to hate them at will. Yes, I will admit to being blantantly envious of such wealth, but also somewhat glad that some people in this rarified class ride bikes. For what the buyer gets over the standard bike, the premium is justifiable, assuming the owner has the means to pay the fare and is tuned into "Harley Math".

These are "halo" bikes too - the maximum expression of what Harley can do with their platform. From a marketing perspective, they are the equivalent to a Lexus F or a Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang. Their coolness trickles down to mere mortal regular owners, who secretly fantasize about their plain vanilla (but very smooth and tasty vanilla at that) Lexus or V6 mustang (a very cool car, actually) having a family connection to the "F" or a Shelby GT.

It occurs to me, if HD put the "good" engine in their regular bikes, what could they do to differentiate the CVO models? With the stock large garden implement power levels, they are keeping you down man! Fight the power - both in the world of finance and at your HD dealership. For money that a stock bike costs, one really should get the CVO engine. That does present a problem though - what would the rich boys get to lord over you then?
