My old Guzzi V7 Sport had 5 speeds and 4 neutrals. I took to killing the engine by dropping the clutch with the brake on and still do it to this day. To my mind it's preferable to have a parked non running bike in gear anyway.
I suppose this isn't a good thing but I put 130K miles on my last two Kawi's, never had a problem from it and never dropped even the big ZZR at a standstill or when parking.
