Maybe someone will reply. You could also post your request on craigslist in your area. However, either way, you should take the MSF Beginning Rider Course. They will teach you how to ride a motorcycle even if you've never been on one before.

Actually, probably not.
Your best bet is to get the bike to a vacant parking lot, or similar, and practice stoping and starting and making slow speed turns......A LOT. Then you can slowly progress up to 2nd and maybe 3rd gear......still in a place void of traffic. It would be better to have a mentor.....but not totally necessary. The critical part is a safe (and legal) place to practice. Although not totally legal, a "land locked" subdivision works too. What bike did you get ??

thats kinda what i was stating to think .theres the town fair grounds near by its usally open and vacant. large open parking lot and drag strip .its open for the ocasional drag race to keep them off the streets.do you think that would be a good practice area.

If you think it is, then it probably IS.
It sounds good to me.

Be reasonable & have someome with you, preferably soneone who knows how to ride but at least someone with a cellphone. Keep your speed down & learn to engage first & how to pull off & come to a stop, cornering, etc. Try to hold a straight line.

i rode it today i felt confident and did fairly well i took it on the back roads around town.besides a couple stalls at stop signs.it went well.ill have to get used to down shifting but would rather use brakes.is down shifting mandatory.

I don't think you are anywhere NEAR ready for an hour on the road yet AND unless your Mom has a bike endorsement on her license, that would be illegal......right ?? If you go ahead anyway but sure that Mom gives you a LOT of space......I mean a LOT.
