Whomever told you this was, at best, reckless and, at worst, an idiot. Regardless of formal education or the task at hand, reading/listening is how you gain the wisdom of other, presumably much more experienced, people. Once you have that knowledge YOU can gather experience by "doing".

Everyone falls into one of 3 learning competency categories: read, listen, do ... Granted you might learn better by "doing" but don't discount the other two as invalid. It'd be like saying you don't need eyes or ears because you have fingers.

im a do'er been like that sence i was a kid.im not rash if i think i cant do something or dont under stand how to do it i wont do it.i understand what easy rider was saying thats why i signed up with classes and will get my license before classes start so i can ride to them to save gas .i got motorcycling for dummies at the library.
