Hope this isn't a repeated thread, but I was unable to find anything in a quick search. My question: Is there a place to recycle expired/damaged helmets? By damage, I mean dropped in the garage. Or what about helmets that aren't expired, but I don't want any longer? Starting to amass a collection and it seems silly to throw them in the trash or have them sit in a closet.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Excellent question.
Wish I had some information to offer but I don't. I will be REALLY interested to see if anybody does.

I've never heard of it but there has to be a good use for a bad helmet.

They are good only for the recycler (as in, crushed/shredded and burned).
The two issues (too old, no longer wanted) boil down to one problem: They are no longer 'capable' of performing their primary function. Or, it is not possible to tell if they can or not. So make a lamp out of 'em, or toss 'em. Kinda the same answer as old fiberglass hulled boats.

Who in the hell would make a boat into a lamp? Jesus...it would take up the whole room!
