Default 04 Road King

Hi

I have inherited a 2004 HD road king classic.
Unfortunately I know nothing about bikes or even how to ride them so I am forced to sell it.
It's black with only 6k miles on it and a bunch of extras, my question is.. what is it worth?
I was offered 9k and just the other day someone said they would give me 12.5k for it but what little info i can find online says it should be more towards 15k.
can someone please help me out as to the value and what I should be asking for, or tell me of a site that would have that info

thanks

It's worth only what someone is willing to pay for it.

But the chances of getting high value in today's economy are miniscule.

NADA will tell you how much a bank says it's worth. whether anyone is willing to pay that much is really the question.

KBB sez $9380 Trade-in, $12,750 Retail.

NADA sez $9590 low-retail, $11,194 high-retail.

Depending on what the extras are, it could be worth more, or not. Also depends on motivation of buyer and seller.

I would ask AT LEAST $11,000 for it, if it's how you describe.

Keep in mind though; it's now August 19th - riding season is about 2/3 gone for 2010. If you can't sell it within a few weeks, I'd put some Sta-Bil in the tank, fill it full, run it for about a half-hour or so, then park it in the corner of the garage with a sheet covering it - and start running an ad in the paper about next April or May..........

(that is, if you want to get the "best price" out of it - if you want to just "get rid" of the bike, ask $10k, settle for $9.5k, and be Done with it)

Look at cycletrader and eBay for similar bikes. Look at 'Completed Listings' on eBay and see what they sold for.

I would think 12,500 is pretty good. 9000 is a bit low.

Of course, price depends heavily on location.

The RoadKing is a very popular bike, and Black is the most popular color. Accessories can help and they can hinder a sale.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies!
It seems like most of the bikes I saw for sale online like this one were overpriced and I based my asking price off of that.
The guy has now upped his offer to 13k, I suppose I should take that as it sounds fair.
Thanks for the help!

If you have no vested interest in keeping the bike, I would accept that offer. Sounds Fair to both parties - he gets a reasonably-priced, well-kept moto - and you no longer have to worry about it, and get a bit of cash as well.
