Nice preview guys. Loved Matt's chronology of the past. My how far we have come.
I am 48 now and still remember that ride as a 12 year old kid on my neighbor's Suzuki TM400 Cyclone. It was one of those if you can start it I will let you ride it deals. Donned the boots and kicked it for all I was worth. Wheelies in a grassy Ohio field ensued for the following hour. I was hooked for life ![]() |

Thanks Duken, yeah we have gone a long way in dirt bike technology. The KX450F we previewed is a much improved machine, and I expect it will also be improved in the longevity area as well. I think that the big Japanese factories have heard the public via slow sales of new MX bikes because of the fragile nature of the machines, and have started modifying the bikes to be more reliable, albeit slowly.
I expect Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha & Suzuki will start sacrificing some power to get more life out of these ultra-trick four strikers. The powerband of this new KX reflects that thinking, it's nice and mellow until you really twist the loud handle. It also sounds a lot different than last years bike, more sedate if you can call it that.
