bought a new 05 1200c [red] sportster. at that time i was really into cruisers. i loved it. with a 100 buck pair of cycle shack tappered slip on mufflers i was in heaven. traded it in on a chopper DUMBEST THING i ever did. i admit i was trying to impress others not myself. like i said STUPID.
saying that do not get a sporty and try to fit in with the HOG riders. it will not happen, i found out first hand. screw them. after the chopper i got a victory 8 ball to make me happy. i love the 8 ball ,but i wish i just kept the sporty.

People buy Sportsters because of the lack of technology, i.e. overhead valves actuated by pushrods, that 45 degree motor that's 1/10th of an aircraft radial, the sound, everything about it, except for the brakes and plastic doo-dads points to 1957. No too many motorcycles around that can do that.

In fact that's why I bought my City-x long ago another life. The motor.

Nope, Harley had made numerous upgrades over the past several years to reduce lever effort on all its models, but primarily the Sportsters.

Hmmmm... wouldn't that be the 2011 XR1200X available in August?
I didn't say anything about adding a plastic fuel tank cover, ugly seat assembly, upside-down fork, and a hideous exhaust system.

Well call me a techno ***** then, I just dont get it, never will, and dont want to:J But thats fine everyone has their own tastes and that I can respect specially when its a motorcycle. Besides Im just giving Seru some payback!

Or triple the handling, add full suspension adjustment, double the range, add 300 mile comfort and half the noise level while doubling the horsepower. All for about 1000 bucks more. Hmmm.....which one to buy?
