It would have been so cool to have been in the boardrooms and executive offices of Japan Inc. when the S1000 hit the road. Suddenly, shaving 19 grams of the engine cases and lengthening the throttle cables just doesn't cut it.
Nice going BMW...you really set the bar. Now we get to watch everyone else jump. |

BMW and the S1000RR are examples of the Manufacture investing in the younger generation if you ask me. They just want a peice of that sportbike market pie.
The Kawasaki looks very respectable. Interesting that they got rid of the over the engine design for a more conventional platform since they have been pushing it since what 05-06. Man she looks nasty and alot more aerodynamic. Love the ram air hole for sure, it's reminiscent of the old RC51 but also mimics the elder milli R ram air hole. Seat section looks straight off the Motogp Grids. The other thing that first caught my eye was the nose of the front fairing and how it extends all the way to the front fender. Reminds me of my ole TLR. Very nice bike!!! |
.0005% better than last year!

I re-read the hype in Cycle World about the "New Improved Kawasaki!" Their cover says "KAWASAKI'S KILLER BIG BANGER WHOPPEROO!! The blurb inside shows the bike with horizontal cylinders and some other fantasy stuff.
Maybe they should have stepped it up with a "big bang" or other significant change. Certainly Yamaha has gotten plenty of juice out of their crossplane crank...hype or real, it's gotten the Tuning Forkers a heap o' PR. |
Duke- a 750 triple should be legal in AMA and WSBK. That would be a treat.

It also reveals why I dropped CW years ago. It's a propaganda rag. |
