For my money, it'd be the Beemer. I'm sure the Honda works well enough, but I really don't like the looks, especially that goofy looking muffler. My thought is that Honda pricing themselves in BMW territory is not a good idea.

I wouldn't buy the Honda if it was half the price of the BMW myself. Their cars stink too

Great write-up Kevin. It's good to hear that the Honda's performance matches it's incredible level of quality in materials, fit, and finish. Beats me why anyone would knock it's looks; from across the street it looks pretty much like every other sportbike out there. None of the big makers step too far out of line in styling their STs and sportbikes. When you get up close the VFR really stands apart, I have never seen a motorcycle by any manufacturer that is as utterly refined. Maybe a CVO HD. Maybe.
The K1300s may be the greatest thing since Butt Wax, but I doubt I'll ever even see one. The BMW dealership rarely has more than a couple new bikes in stock to look at. BMW should consider doing some events like Bike Week as well if they want to go mainstream, as they apparently do. Kevin, I read the article twice and couldn't find the shootout "winner." Did I miss that? Or are they just too close to call?

Close to call, but not too close to call. The VFR is a slicker machine, so it takes the crown just barely. But if someone wants things like ESA and ASC, the VFR can't compete.

He's a nice guy though, and he offered me a demo ride on a GS for a day. HD never did that.

I'm not so good at math. So what, exactly, is the price of the VFR?
