Default Urban Leg Protection

I ride in an urban environment around the city and have some concerns regarding leg protection.

Statistically Leg injuries are the number one injury in a motorcycle accident, however It seams pointless for me to wear full on protective over-pants for short rides cause I would be forever taking them on and off. Does anyone have any suggestions for discrete protection.

Any suggestions, discussions or even ideas like airbag pants, would be greatly appreciated.

You can find good looking, protective pants from a variety of sources. Icon happens to be my favorite, but there are others. You'll find jeans, "Docker" styled, etc. Expect to pay about $100 to $150 for a pair of reinforced, motorcycle specific trousers.

Bayden,

Ken has given you about the only option for 'on-and-off' riding. The only other choice would be something like an Aerostich suit, but (depending where you live) that may not be practical.

And, if you have 'overpants' or the like, then you have to figure out what to do with it when you aren't wearing it.

Down here on the Redneck Riviera, I wear all the gear- except leg protection. It is just not easy to do. And most of the year, it's too hot.

Wear mesh pants over shorts in summer. Just take them off and bungie them to the bike when you're not using them. The mesh pants that is.

A pair of tall armored boots will protect you almost to the knee. SIDI On-Road Sympatek boots or Aerostitch Combat Touring boots are both discreet black leather and quite tall. Chippewa and Wesco make some tall Engineer stlye boots that though they're not armored are still pretty stout.

Yeah, but don't you think that they'd give the wrong impression? You know, with the shorts?
