Don't dog the Hyosung. You know that there are some dudes that successfully club race those things in WERA. Hyosung actually develops hotrod parts for that motor. Since it's exactly the same motor as the SV rip-off that's raced I would imagine that you could get nearly 80hp out of it without intense motor work. That'd smoke most big twins on the drag strip. Isn't the bike rather light compared to most of it's class?

It's not exactly a "rip-off", they make the engines under license from Suzuki, IIRC. Much like Hyundai and the 4G63 Mitsubishi 4-cylinder engine they use in many of their cars.

I didn't mean that quite that way. More or less, Hyosung took the engineering team that developed the motor and put their twist on it. According to Suzuki and Hyosung the motor is Hyosung's design internally. But the casting is very much like that of an OEM SV motor. It's kinda like calling all non-Harley's clones. Not a disrespect thing more pointing out the obvious.

For those who can't see the pictures, here is the link: Hyosung Motors USA

BTW, the pic was there in the "preview" mode before I submitted the post.
It reminds me that I can't view pictures on this forum.

Who's dogging Hyosung? Of course you copy Harley if you are building cruisers. You'd be stupid not to.

And I'll bet that inexpensive Hyosung 650 with a little work is faster than Larry's Victory.

There was a Hyosung dealer and a factory rep from Korea at the Convention Center during Bike Week. We talked for a while about their bikes and plans for gaining market share. The factory rep said they will build market share not just on price, but also by constantly improving the products, and offering better warranties, than anyone else, much like KIA did. Their bikes actually look pretty decent in person, although they don't make one of interest to me, yet. However, he said they are coming out with a ADV type bike in 2011 that will compete directly with the Tiger, DL, etc.

They need a modern little scrambler to play with. Use that weird oval tube frame and run some high pipes with 8in of clearance and you're off to the races.

If their cars are anything to go by the Koreans should do well once they get a foot in the door. I doubt they could beat a Victory though, them sum'b*tch's are fast AND handle like a Ducati in rails...

GE has the security systems at Inchon Airport. Some associates have gone there and come back shellshocked by the work pace. The Koreans drag them out of their hotels at 5:30 am, and work, virtually without break, until well after 10 at night. HD Mike went and said he'd never go back; even at 10 pm, they'd get all cranky if he asked to go back to the hotel. "We not work 9 to 5 like lazy American! You get back on computer NOW!!"
