Wink Sorry

Don't fret.
I like most bikes and I am not a jap bike snob.

BMW riders can get pretty snooty.

And yes, some sportbike riders are real pricks.

What set me off was the idea that the japs copy harley.
And that the twin cam motor is ground breaking engineering (come on )
The ONLY REASON that the japs make harley look alikes is because they have to.
American males dictate what happens in the marketplace.
They don't want their cruisers to be powered by fast & powerful liquid cooled four cylinder motors.
The type of motors that the japs excel at producing.
Hell,the faithful didn't even like the V - Rod.

"I don't know why you care about this anyhow. If you don't like Harleys that's fine. Don't associate with them. It's nothing to get all bent out of shape about."

I don't like the attitude. It's a LOT worse than the bikes.

The idea that someone would actually think that BMW engineers would copy harley is jaded at best.

Hey. It's all good.

Run what ya brung.

Interestingly enough, if you go back and read the posts, A Star Ride showed up with the Japanese Cruiser Is Better chip already on his shoulder. I noticed it in his posts right from the start, but didn't bother making a point of it since he seemed to have enough other interesting stuff to say to offset it.

I've noticed this "Japanese is Better" chip for years; it's as obvious and annoying as the "I'm cool because I bought a Harley" shoulder chip. Hey Stupid, buying a product doesn't make you anything more or less that what you were 10 seconds before you bought it...except perhaps poorer.

Even within the comparatively tiny US VStrom community, there is a "My 650 Wee Strom is better than your overpowered 1000 Vee" chip. It's absurd.

Anyone who seeks validation via the motorcycle they ride, the car they drive, the house they own...etc. needs to take a look at their life and figure out what's really important. I'll bet Cuddy would be damned happy to ride ANY bike at all.
YOU ARE WRONG! I am the coolest and smartest and bestest because I own a Generic Doodad! I even have a Special Limited Edition Generic Doodad That Only A Million Other People Also Own! And don't you forget it!

It was a f*cking joke for christs sake. Irreguardless your Yamastar is a carbon copy of whatever Harley is putting out as are any other Japanese cruisers. Me, I don't give a f*ck what you ride. I'm very happy with my Harleys even though I've owned and enjoyed many other bikes.

Until you have a 14" tattoo of your "Special Limited Edition Generic Doodad" on your chest, you are NOT riding with the "GD-Team."

Come back when you man-up.

Default Most Interesting Thread

It seems everyone whether they will admit it or not really does try to create an identity/persona for themselves.(myself included) One does not gain superiority by riding a certain type or brand of bike. As long as we are true to ourselves and ride or buy what we like that is all that matters. There is no accounting for taste. The psychology of this runs deep inside everyone. All bikes need to stand or fall based on their own merit. Again MO has enlightened me to a series of Motorcycle facts that will enable me achieve a greater Motorcycle consciousness.

Wink Ride

I love to ride.
I am not brand specific or brand loyal.
If I see a bike that meets my needs I get it.
Ride Ride Ride Ride and then ride some more.

Hell, I'd be happy to get my Go Devil running. You're right about that, oh voice of reason. What's up lately there Ken, you seem enlightened lately? Have a secret stash of purple mushrooms in the vacant lot next door?
(use to love those when we went to Rosie Road in PR).

Enlightened...hardly. Just another motorcycle riding fool, arguing with LR here at good old MO.

However, I have ascended into Garage Heaven at the new house. All my tools are neatly organized, the workbench is clear and well-lit, the compressor and jack are standing by, and I have a wall of chemicals and lubricants, ready to poison the environment at any moment.

Not that I'm hinting about you coming out for a nice visit and Yamaha rebuild or anything like that.
