Default Newbie...

I really want to buy a bike and start riding... I have a few questions:

What is considered "low" mileage on a bike? I want to buy a used one, but have no idea about mileage.

I really like the Honda Shadow Spirit 750 bikes, they seem pretty good for a beginner, any thoughts?

Thanks for the input!!!

I suggest you read the new rider thread: New Rider? Read this thread FIRST!. Pace yourself.

Take the MSF Beginning Rider Course.

The Shadow 750 as a beginner bike .. you could do better, but you could do worse, too. It's relatively heavy (bad), but it's not too powerful (good). If you end up getting one, make sure you spend plenty of time practicing maneuvers in a large empty parking lot.

Mileage .. if you get an older bike with hardly any miles on it, it's probably been sitting; that's not a good thing. If you buy a high-mileage bike that's been used to commute a hundred miles every weekday, and taken on cross-country trips on holidays, that's not a bad thing. You want to buy a well-maintained bike, no matter how old or new it is.
