Does anyone have any idea how many 2003 100th anniversary 1200 Sportsters were produced in the anniversary black paint?

Yes. Harley Davidson keeps that information and will provide it to you if you ask. I believe the function moved from the corporate offices to the HD Museum when it opened.

I can tell you this. They're not "rare." Every motorcycle produced by H-D in 2003 had the 100th badging.
The true anniversary colors are black and silver like my geezer glide. |

I tried to get the 2003 anniversary sportster information from H-D but was unable to.The search stated they were unable to receive e-mail (?). I know they aren't rare, but I have only seen one other one in the black outfit. I personally fell in love with mine the moment I saw it. Do all the 2003's have pinstriping composed of the name Harley Davidson?

Yup, all the 2003's were "anniversary" editions. The only limited build ones were the black/silver as previously stated.

That silver paint might become a problem to get in the future. It's totally different than any other silver paint you see with that nail polish finish. |

The "silver" paint on my anniversary sportster appears to actually be a decal made up of very small letters that spell Harley Davidson, probably added before the clearcoat. Mine has a H-D windshield, screaming eagle exhaust, forward controls, 9" bars with 5" risers, and a few other items such as aftermarket grips and pegs, bags and guards and oil temp dipstick. It may not cruise all day with the big boys but it is certainly an eye catcher and fun to ride.

And isn't that what it's all about?

The special color was two-tone silver and black. |
