Good Morning to all,
I would like to know how one can tell, besides taking the word of the salesperson, if the motorcycle has ABS brakes or not. Thanks, Bigrnm |

You could squeeze the brakes in a dirt parking lot at low speed and if the wheels lock and you fall over, it doesn't have ABS.
If the lever pumps in your hand, you probably do. What model are you looking at?

Most (all?) ABS bikes have a sensor and rotor on the front wheel. It looks like a toothed brake rotor.

When you turn the ignition on there should be an icon that flashes while it does a self check, other than that just do as Buzz suggests, get up to a good clip, aim at the salesman and nail the brakes. If he jumps out of the way that proves he's lying to you and has no faith in the products he sells.....

Because you're paying $1000 extra, there's usually a big sticker or at least a logo of some sort indicating ABS. If you don't trust the dealer on this issue, maybe you should find another?

It's not that I don't trust him, I just don't trust anyone. (haha) Like you said, I will be paying $1000 extra, I want to make sure the bike has the ABS without relying on the salesperson to say so.
thanks, |

Write down the VIN from the frame of the bike. Walk to the dealer's parts counter and ask the guy there to check for you. You needn't say why.

Wait a second!
Are you trying to tell me that they sell a barge like a GoldWing without ABS!?
