Default Locking your helmet… Is it safe when riding?

Hello all,

I have a 2007 ZX6R Kawasaki and I found out that I can lock my helmet under the passenger seat. I was wondering, is it safe to ride my bike with a helmet locked on the passenger seat. I see people do it all the time. What do you guys think about it? Do you do it?

Thanks

You can do whatever you want KP. What a lonely, pathetic life you have. Would you like to be banned now, or should we wait until you show your psycho self? You decide.

Dude, As long as is doesn't impede your ability to control your bike and you don't mind looking goofey riding with a helmet with no passenger under it- do as you wish.

I've been a memeber of this site for 7 maybe 8 yrs I think. When do I get a shot at moderator? I'm on here as much as any moderator. I'm easy to talk to. I have an outgoing personality. I know things. And I know how to BS my way though things I don't know. Just 'cause I'm poor and don't actually pay anymore doesn't mean you love me any less does it?

If protecting the passenger seat is more-important than your skull - knock yerself out.

Most "accidents" not involving another vehicle are relatively low-speed. A fall in the parking-lot and subsequent bump on the noggin' with a helmet on makes you laugh it off and lament your broken brake-lever and turn signal. The same without a helmet can make everything else seem pointless.

i will be wearing my helmet. i m talking about the passanger helmet. i got friends that ask me to take them out for a ride all the time and it sucks when i don't have a extra helmet around. i always refuse to take them because they don't have a helmet.

DK,

If the hat doesn't affect your freedom of movement and it doesn't threaten to foul the rear wheel, no worries!

However, remember that hanging a hat on a bike is probably the worst thing you can do to it. Heat, vibration, dirt, banging against the bike... all are very unhealthy for the outside and inside construction.

Not to mention the birds (or dirt daubers, around here) that'll take up residency in it.
