The real expense in Roadracing is Damage repair. Hopefully you wont find that out.

One small nit to pick. Silicon based fluid does NOT absorb water anywhere near as easily as DOT 4 which is glycol based. That is why it is popular with folks who restore cars that wind up sitting more than they are driven. The down side is that Dot 5 (silicon) will find every possible leak in the system.

Nice article, comprehensive and useful information for the new racer or serious track dayer! Many riders use after market plastic, to protect the oem stuff from damage. Reducing the cost of crashing. Then selling later with the original plastic to make the bike look new. So always look past the plastic when shopping for a track bike.
