I am interested in obtaining a Class L permit in Illinois. I do not have my drivers license yet, but I have completed drivers ed.
Under what conditions can I operate a sub-150cc bike, considering that it would only be a 1-seater? How is parental supervision, defined? Must they follow on another bike? |

You're better off calling your State DMV.

You can't get any motorcycle class L or M designation until you get your drivers license. After you get your license, you can then take a written test to get a permit for M (under 150 cc) or L (over 150 cc). The permit lets you ride during daylight hours with a licensed rider on the bike or riding his own bike. Taking the riding portion of the test then gets you a permenent classification.
