Depends on age and experience and the company you use. A 16 year old can pay in the area of $6000 or more per year for a performance bike. Better check with your agent.

Questions:

1) How old are you?
2) is this your first bike?
3) if you have been riding, how long?
4) Do you drive a car? whats your record like?

There are myriad questions you should be asking your C.O. then. Unkle Samski owns you now, Komrade bearsmike.

First off 600cc bike, horrible idea for first bike. Your 18, insurance might run you up to half the cost of the bike!

250R ninja, 500r ninja, GS500, DRM400, KLR650. These are good bikes to start on, mattering on your size and what not. Dont buy a KLR650 if your 5'6, dont buy a ninja 250 if your 6'10.

Remember, Sports bike = high insurance.

A good guideline is no more than TWO cylinders, no more than 650ccs. There are a couple of exceptions like the HD 883 sportster or Triumph Scrambler.
