I saw two buzzing around Daytona. They're Sportsters. If not for the relentless media blitz, I'd have never given them a second look.

Take one for a ride and see if you think it's the same animal as a 1200 Custom! If you still think there's no difference, let's race up Latigo Canyon for pinks!

Why pick on the 1200 Custom? If you raced a standard 1200R it would come down to the rider. The 'XR' 1200 isn't that much better. That is why it gets ragged on. I saw a guy in a mag that is building Springsteen XR street replicas that are 380 lbs. and 105 horsepower. All Harley had to do is get close to that. Instead, they have a 550 lb 85 hp turd. Terrible.

At least it's a pretty turd.

Still a turd. Such a waste of a good name. I'd rather have this one.

Me too Me Tooo I want one......

I'd be happy with an XR1200 though, or a 1200R

I only deal with new bikes. H-D no longer sells a 1200R. You should ride the "turd" yourself before delivering a definitive opinion. Our Desmosedici-owning buddy liked the XR so much he is considering buying one for himself.

So when you ride it it has more than 85 horsepower and weighs less than 580 lbs? Or does it just have that standing still? Just asking before I deliver my definitive opinion. Harley no longer sells the 1200R because nobody would pay the extra money for the XR if they rode them back to back. They did so little with so much.
