After doing a good bit of research, I bought a US800, which is designed for smaller batteries. My intended use is to maintain my bike's battery, so I did not need the bigger version.
Other than finding out that the paint on the housing comes off on Sargent seat fabric, I must say the US800 works like a champ. It keeps the battery topped off, and generates little to no heat. Apparently, it uses very little electricity.
The US800 comes with a long lead that ends in an idiot-proof plug. Also included is a female socket with hoop terminals to connect to the battery, and another female socket with cute little alligator clamps. Unfortunately, the hoop leads are not idiot-proof. One must take care to connect the red lead to the positive terminal of the battery.
I bought mine on eBay. The US800 sells for around $45.
