Ahhhh, our puritanical roots are the problem. Moron city council members spending 5 million dollars on 5 toilets is not the problem.

Seattle is in a red state, right?

It's either public toilets or a strong smell of piss and feces everywhere. The toilets didn't work out but when they were purchased there was a fair amount of hope that they would solve a problem. I can't blame the city for trying.

You can't blame them for spending 5 million dollars on 5 toilets? You could have paid employees to follow the junkies around with pooper scoopers for that much.

How about forced rehab? 5 million could have paid for that.

I guess among left wingers results don't matter. Only good intentions count.

Hey. It's just OPM. What's the big deal? Just think of all the nice retirement nest eggs sitting off shore for City Councilmen and bureaucrats. Heaven knows they need it in those poor paying city jobs.

Uh huh, right. Even if you could find someone who wanted a job picking up solid human waste, you still need to deal with the other part of the equation,

What! "Forced" rehab? Freedom for everyone but the folks you don't like? Come on, what kind of libertarian are you?

Never mind, I know that you all just want to whine.

The units were put up for sale Wednesday afternoon on eBay, with a starting bid set by the city at $89,000 apiece.
Now who in the hell is going to bid on these things?

Well when people commit crimes they lose their liberties. Jail or rehab?

Look at the mess CA is in. One of the highest tax states in the country is billions in the red and the solutions coming out of Sacramento are to raise taxes.

Eighty-Nine Thousand smackers? Suckers held their value like a Harley, di'int they?

I wonder what it'd cost to have one shipped halfway-across the Continent? That'd make a cool Lawn Ornament. Sorta like the "Ultimate Lawn Jockey"................

What crime would that be?

Keep in mind that being homeless (and thus without a bathroom) cannot be criminalized. And as a result, things people do as a result of being homeless can't be criminalized either. Even if a homeless person DOES commit a crime, do you think that the criminal justice system is free? That jail space should be taken up for criminal pissing? It's just a wee bit more complex than you seem to realize.
