I've put 90K miles on 2 DL1000's (V-Stroms) and in my experience, you cannot damage the motor with wheelies. The bike loves to wheelie in first and second gears, and while I don't do 5 block wheelies, neither bike ever missed a beat (I sold my first, then when I got involved in the Alcan distance rally bought another one). I've done a saddle sore 1000 on this bike, the Alcan 5000, several AMA dual sports, track days, 14 day tours with the wife on the back, etc. It's a very flexible bike. Adventure Moto specializes in after market parts for the Strom, google 'em.

Yes, actually there were several.

1. I had the bucks.
2. I like hydraulic clutches.
3. The seat is more comfy for me.
4. I like the lower fairing.
5. The number 1 reason, which turns out to be #5 is that I didn't want to ride around on a 650 wondering if I really should have gone ahead and gotten the 1k. I can ride a bigger motor slower, but I can't ride a smaller motor faster. Or something like that. And so far, as this engine is loosening up and breaking in, it is a FRIKIN HOOT!!!! YAAAAAY!

Thanks for the tip, I shall investigate. The aftermarket and online community for this bike is remarkable!

Dude, just post the link. It's not like it'll be deleted.

Now, if you were the owner of the forum and posted a link in every forum category, than yeah, it would be deleted.

I think he is probably referring to V-Strom Riders International the link is V-Strom Forum - powered by Tex Arts

Most comprehensive website I have found related to the V-Strom.

Default Ahem.

There are two kinds of people in this world my friend. Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
