Does anyone want the powers that be deciding what can be said and what can't be said? The answer is no. Hate speech, hate crimes, newspeak, big brother. I'm shocked, shocked CNN crossed the line of acceptable decorum. Good thing I never watch it or I'd be forced to turn it off.

Oh, sorry - upon a re-read, it appeared that I advocated restriction upon "free speech" - that is not the case at all. I was merely lamenting the fact that we, as a Nation, have socially become the Dregs of Humanity. We are an episode of Jerry Springer; come to day-in, day-out life.

"News" now must pander to the lowest, commonest, vulgarest denomination.

Robert Bork wrote a book many years ago called Slouching toward Gomorrah.

Shame he didn't make it to the Supreme Court.

To be clear: I too don't want to see ANY limits on free speech by the government. Schools, employers, etc. have more leeway.

My complaint is that idiots like the Post and Murdoc are making it easy for those who want to restrict speech to do so.
