Upon making my weekly visit to the local BMW dealer, I declared they needed to give me something to ride so I wouldn't have to keep bugging friends and neighbors to be my courtesy shuttle.
BMW has scooter demos on site and I took it for the day. I must say I came away thoroughly impressed. The 650GT flat out moves and is comfy to boot. I rode it about 70 miles on the local canyon roads and it is stable and handles like a dream. You will surprise many a squid friend on this. I wouldn't step up and spend 10 grand on it. A year from now I'll scan the CL ads for a yuppy who bought one for the wife. That may be the only downfall. The seat height is pretty tall for a scooter. It was no problem for me but I can't see my GF handling this unless they have a lower seat option. |

I can respect a man who rides a scooter throwing caution to the wind. The Mods and Rockers were both bad asses. I think a scooter would make a great city ride. Setting the tone. Laying down the gauntlet. Thanks for picking it up.

Well, for some reason, I did feel the need to explain to people who asked me about it that it was just a loaner from the dealer while my "real" bike was being serviced.

A new BMW in the shop? How strange and rare.
Put down the puddin bowl and back slowly away from the scooter Buzz
