Default My last night in Gettysburg

The lobby of my hotel has a cannon in it.

I bought a dealer shirt at Battlefield Harley-Davidson.

Route 30 between Fallingwater and Chambersburg is the most orgasmic motorcycle road I've ever seen. And it's posted 55. Too bad I was in a car.

The shops are fantastic toy stores. Anybody got a spare grand they can give me for a Sharps infantry rifle?

Standing on Little Round Top at the stone marking the extreme left flank of the 20th Maine Regiment - and thus the entire Army of the Potomac - was a religious experience.

I stood at the spot where Armistead and his men briefly broke through the Union line before being repulsed, ending Pickett's charge and marking "the high water mark of the Confederacy." Someone had left a tiny Confederate flag at half-staff between two stones in the wall. I disagree with the sentiment, but I appreciated the poignancy.

The lobby cannon would be impressive if they fired it at sunset each day, or to signal the opening of the lobby bar.

Why did you pick Gettysburg for vaykay? Not that it's a bad place to go, but are you a Civil War history buff? As I recall, there's not much else to do there aside from poking through the battlefields and museums.

I'm a history geek. So that's like asking Buz, "Why did you choose Rio for vacay? There's not much else to do besides bang hot chicks and drink."

Route 30 in Pennsylvania between Fallingwater and Chambersburg is a motorcyclist's wet dream. 55 mph with unbelievable, tight curves and elevation changes. You can tell it's a fun road because of all the roadside memorial crosses. Sadly, I was in my car. I did the best I could, though. At one point the little woman squeaked, "Little white crosses! Just sayin'!"

Here's the hotel lobby:

well I ate my share of little white crosses back in the day, probably why my heart is so f*cked up now. Stay away from drugs kids, don't be like your uncle Sarnali2.........

Gettysburg would be cool though, I'm a history buff myself, infact we're heading out to Yallerstone in a few weeks with a day planned to wander around the Little Bighorn Battlefield and surrounding areas, I've been there a few times and always enjoy the place

Being a "Harley guy" now, I had to buy the obligatory souvenir dealer shirt:

Back when "the Harley thing" was getting big, there was a guy at work who showed up every week with an HD shirt from some city or town across the US. One day I asked him how he found time to visit all those dealerships. Turns out he joined a service that gathers the shirts and ships them every few weeks.
