New season of Cafe Racer starts Thursday on Velocity.
No, I don't know what channel that is on DirectTV, Dish Network, or your local cable system. I really, really like this show. My only beef is the title - the bikes usually aren't dictionary-definition cafe racers. But I don't think there's a good word for this style of bike, where you take a standard older bike and strip off bits to make it more minimalist and elemental. "Bobber" has become a little too timeframe- and aesthetics-specific. They generally look more like hybrids of cafes and bobbers. Whatever you call them, the builders make some neat bikes, with no manufactured drama and conflict. Joe Bob says check it out.

I saw the first episode or 2 and thought it was ok. These shows usually get better as time goes by.
I wonder what happened to that great series on HD Theater where they'd visit bike manufacturers like Ducati and Kawi? That was REALLY good, but there were only 6 or so episodes.

Speed Channel and Velocity are friggin' godsends. Have you seen the "All Girls Garage" show? I was mocking the previews, but those gals really do seem to know what they're doing, and they have some genuinely good tips and tricks. I find myself jotting a lot of stuff down in a notebook while it's on. Sort of like "Gearz", but without Stacey David's chuckle-headed in-your-face cheerfulness.

A mind-control device from the 1950's. The Master Race found it wasn't effective due to it's limited availability, and has since replaced it with "Smart Phones" and "Tablets."

My memory... Jeez.
Whatever happened to the busty blonde that hosted that Discovery bike show a couple years back? I can't think of her name. That was back when Greg White has his 'Garage' show. Heck, I wouldn't have remembered GW's name, except he was doing pit bits at the 200 this year. My favorite episode was when she was (apparently) turning some wrenches, and it looked like she dam near caught one of 'the girls' in a bind.

That's the one (or two!). Michelle Smith.
I need to set the DVR for the Cafe Racer show. Apparently Billy Joel is a recurring 'guest.'
