Hmm...this is what Wikipedia's article says about it, FWIW:

"AVG fighter aircraft were painted with a large shark face on the front of the aircraft. This was done after pilots saw a photograph of a P-40 of No. 112 Squadron RAF in North Africa,[11] which in turn had adopted the shark face from German pilots of the Luftwaffe's ZG 76 heavy fighter wing, flying Messerschmitt Bf 110 fighters in Crete. (The AVG nose-art is variously credited to Charles Bond[12] and Erik Shilling.)"

I'm guessing he meant the actual winged tiger motif, not the shark nose.

I guessed you missed the "Tiger" on the side of the helmet, BEHIND/ABOVE the "shark-mouth".

I did. I can only see about 10% of photos posted when I'm here at work.

Finally got to a PC that shows your hat. Very cool! It's a Bell, right? I hear mixed reviews on them; but they seem to have a wide range of price points.

Yep, the shark mouth was from the Brits, the cartoon flying tiger was Disney.

I gather they dissolved their licensing relationship with Bieffe after Bieffe made Bell into a low-rent brand. So the post-Bieffe Bells are better lids. This model is the Vortex (aptly named), which has gotten a lot of positive bang-for-the-buck reviews. Certainly the fit and finish are first-rate.
