Most of it is computer generated......so are the user names.....so screwing with user IDs is generally a waste of time. They almost never use the same one twice.

HOWEVER......can you block/ban by IP address range ??

They rotate addresses too but seldom get outside of Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. I will be working on a ban list for those areas; hope I can get it down to less than 100 entries without too much colateral damage.
Can't block IPs here.

Not good.
New users shouldn't have posting rights.

Hope the new software will be better.

I think new posters should be required to buy a Subscription...

"New software"!?

That'll be the day. Apparently no one at VS cares enough about this site to even fix the annoying glitches, let alone roll out new software.

The easy answer would be to roll the site into the same format as one of the other VS sites, like triumphrat.net.

But I'm not holding my breath...

Oops. Wrong site.

Y'all's efforts to keep the spam in check are definitely appreciated.

Given the situation, I think just deleting the users and posts is plenty.
Banning the user name is probably just a waste of time.

I too thank you, Sarnali, Moke and the other Mods for your labors!

There's at least a beer waiting here, too! I'm on the way to Ken's!
Well then maybe I'll just let it go for now. If the site gets so mucked up that it's unusable then just maybe they'll do something about it. I just spent about 1/2 hour deleting spam and they kept coming in. It's too hard to keep up.

Yeah, I'm not bothering with the spam any more unless I get paid by the deletion. The site needs to have manual entry codes so these computer generated spams can't show up. It's just too much bother any more.

I don't blame you guys. Pehaps it's time to abandon ship (i.e. ditch Motorcycle.com) altogether. This spam issue has really pushed a button with me. I hate to say it, but Vertical Scope taking over MO might just have been the worst thing for this site.

*sigh*

The old gray mare just ain't what she used to be!
