Default Today's lunch ride 5. Santa Ana day.

Today's lunch ride takes us from Carlsbad to Warner Springs, CA. It was a perfect day with temps in the 70s.

I stopped at the Warner Springs Country club for a bit of lunch with the duffers. The Carnitas burrito was tasty.

I then rode from here

to here: (insert obligatory beach photo for people in crappy cold places)

We have two very important purposes on this board.

1) Make fun of Ken
2) Occasionally ride motorcycles

Default How Convenient

Exactly where were you Mr. Buzglyd when the murders were taking place? We see what you're up to. Another alibi. How convenient. The 79 is nice down that way. Good choice.

I keep wheeling over the spike strips.

They'll never take me alive!

Burn in Hell. I've got almost a foot of wet snow headed my way.

I am here to chew bubblegum and ride motorcycles in nice weather, or make fun of Ken. And I'm all outta bubblegum and nice weather.

As a West Coast Conservative which translates as a Liberal to 90% of the rest of the country, I'm here to offer Ken moral support when I agree with him. I also ride motorcycles when it's above freezing and not torrential rain, except for yesterday when it was in fact torrential rain. Not a bad thing though because it washed off all the mud from my Forest Service road explorations. The trusty PzKw had picked up a few extra lbs worth at least....

Nah, that ain't a PzKw. A kraut army motorcycle is a Krad (Kraft-Radfahrzeug).

MO actually has an interesting "Bikes of the Blitzkrieg" article in the archives.

Indeed, however since some ill-informed halfwits erroneously refer to the GS an "overweight tank" I prefer to use the Panzerkampfwagen nomenclature

I suppose I could call it a SdKf2, but most people would have no idea what a Kettenkrad was, though one was used to some effect in Saving Private Ryan

It does lousy burnouts, though.

You know, Sarnali, one of the problems with kids these days is that they don't fetishize Nazi military hardware like we did.

They're too young. When I was a kid grampa would show me his shrapnel scars and uncle Gilly had the wooden leg and Ghurka knife etc ... When I first started working in steam plants most of the old guys were WW2 vets. We had first hand or at least second hand knowledge and German and Japanese stuff was trophies they brought home. For Kids these days it's just ancient history, besides the Germans came up with some pretty cool stuff.
