Default My future RZ

My neighbor has taken the "I'll just get it running" bike restore to the extreme.

It started as a trashed 1985 Yamaha RZ350 he got from his uncle. The "I"ll just get it running" turned into a total disassembly. He has completely rebuilt and repainted the engine. Next, he decided to strip and powdercoat the frame.

He realizes that once he's finished he'll be bored with the project and he'll sell it to me.

That's from the time I started getting into motorcycles.

I've got a huge soft spot for the RZ350, Nighthawk 700S, GPz550, Ducati F1, hell, even the Honda Magnas. Those were the bikes in the Cycle and Cycle World magazines that I read inside my blue 3-ring binder during class. The one with "OZZY" and "IRON MAIDEN" inked on the hard, canvas-y cover.

Couple years later I paid $1200 for a new, leftover Yamaha Maxim 400, and that was that. Wish I still had that bike...

Memories. Sniff!

RZs are cool. However you'd better retain your neighbor to keep it running. Unless you want to spend a lot more time in the garage.
