Default Manly Hands

Riding in this morning was chilly, 45* at my place, mid 50's in town.. So I'm riding along on 167 and there's a Sportster in front of me (must have been a girl) with the rider all leathered up and riding in true bad-azz fashion with one hand in his (her) pocket. I then notice the rider isn't wearing any gloves, on an unfaired bike no less!

Now I feel a surge of pride and in true Biker Solidarity I turned down my heated grips to the low setting and loosened the straps a little on my lined Lee Parks Elkhide Gauntlets, us tuff guys have to stick together you know............

Talk about clueless!

Why be miserable!? If you're so tapped that you can't afford gloves (of any kind), put a couple old socks over your hands.

I think the same thing about the morons I see around here that are toolin' down the road without eye protection - not even sunglasses. That cannot be anywhere close to 'comfy'! Why do it?

Ha! you should see the ATV clowns around here. I see idiots frequently riding ATVs without even sunglasses. Yeah right. The worst are the idiots riding along without a care in the world with their freaking infant(!) on their lap.

Default Are you Experienced?

I grew up riding in Ohio.It only took 1 ride in cold rainy weather to know what to do.I was back there in June and had to laugh at the riders. If they weren't wearing the same Harley Leather Jackets with no Helmets they were in Shorts with no helmets.I have to say heated grips even in SoCal are a luxury I don't want to do without.Did I mention how hard it is being a middle aged white guy trying to reinvent himself? I somehow thought that might be important.

I would love to have some weather where we need some gloves, at least maybe in the evenings. We've been reaching the high 90's and low 100's for a while. I get to ride year round here but the summers suck. 98 today.

Boy howdy!

I've got to get the a/c on my bike fixed! And my helmet keeps filling up with water!

I think it may have hit 72 here today..........

Our summers don't really start till after July 4th, it's been mid-upper 40's in the mornings and maybe 60's and showers for weeks. In fact I'm freezing my ass off right now, it's probably low 50's outside and the back sliding door is open for the dogs.

Works for me because I hate hot weather, 50's and cloudy is ideal as far as I'm concerned..
