Default Riding music

So what does everyone listen to before a ride or during a ride? I like to play some Mastodon, they are a great metal band who can really rock. I suggest everyone take a look at this trailer for their new live CD/DVD "Live At The Aragon". YouTube - Mastodon - "Live At The Aragon" Trailer

Michael Bolton gets me going every time. That soulful wail just sticks in my mind for hours. I visualize his long, curly hair, blowing in the wind from the pillion of my bike. It's just me and Michael, free, following the music into the clouds in a cotton-candy softness that floats in shimmering fields of puppies.

Thomas Jefferson wrote that the 1st Amendment erected a "wall of separation" between the church and the state (James Madison said it "drew a line," but it is Jefferson's term that sticks with us today). The phrase is commonly thought to mean that the government should not establish, support, or otherwise involve itself in any religion.

Its.......A FACT!

Ken-san, you some funny guy!

But seriously folks; I decided, since I had a shiny new Droid that could pick up Pandora, that I'd find some earbuds and listen to some tuneage whilst sailing down the road.

I decided to 'test' the system on my way home from the office.

It was strange! The volume was fine, and the noise reduction was good. But the music was very distracting for me. Enough that my routine ride home was a bit stressful, as I didn't feel comfortable.

So I abandoned that idea. Soon after, I discovered my Droid screen does not respond to a gloved finger, so answering calls and navigation, etc. wouldn't work.

Now, when I was on a buddies Ultra a few years back, I was jammin' to Popa Chubby blasting out of the six (non-stock) speakers! That was cool!

I used to listen to Mastodon, but ever since the revelations of the lead singer's questionable activities in a boy's orphanage, and the drummer's well-known predilection for coprophilia, I felt the band no longer had anything to offer me.

I've heard that their only remaining fans are lonely, spam-slinging losers who fantasize about anime chicks.

I've never liked music on a ride. Tried it once on a long trip. Preferred hearing the engine, my surroundings, and my own thoughts. I'm with Pushrod, it was actually stressful feeling "cut off" like that. I need to know what's going on around me.

Really, after twenty-five years, riding itself is still plenty entertaining.

Hmm, very interesting. I'm riding about 2,000 miles in March, and I've been thinking about adding the Nolan audio system to my N-102. Not for music, but audio books. Me and the kid's Mom used to listen to them on road trips before she passed; we had a lot of fun with them. BUT, if you found music that distracting, I have to wonder if boods would be worse.

If Dreams of my Father was in my helmet, I'd plow right into a semi.

If I'm in traffic I don't use music but out on the open road I like some tunes.

I used the headset with my iPhone and I can just squeeze the mic and say "play Michael Bolton" and it just starts jamming.
