Right where I am we got sleet almost all afternoon so that might keep our inch total down; I'm guessing we have about 6 inches so far.......but you can walk on top of it.

I know that because of several trips outside during the course of "fixing" my sump pump that decided to fail this morning.

The repair was complicated by the fact that when first discovered the water was coming IN almost as fast as the pump could take it out........making it appear that the pump itself had failed......when it really was only the switch that went bad. THEN for a brief time I thought the outlet pipe was frozen up. Really fun; NOT.

My spare pump was bad but the switch was good. Checking the spare to see if it would run was about the ONLY thing I did right in the whole mess.

At least I didn't have to choose between just letting the water rise and trying to go out for a new pump. That would have been a tough choice with the blizzard in progress and all.

We had to turn the seat heaters on in the Mini this morning on the way to school and work. When you put the top down it gets chilly! No worries though, it'll get back up into the 70's later today.

Thomas Jefferson wrote that the 1st Amendment erected a "wall of separation" between the church and the state (James Madison said it "drew a line," but it is Jefferson's term that sticks with us today). The phrase is commonly thought to mean that the government should not establish, support, or otherwise involve itself in any religion.

Its.......A FACT!

Snowed in again here in Maine. I just had to throw another hippie in the stove. The rate we're going this winter, I'm going to have to make a fuel run to Vermont.

Scrawny hippies won't put out many BTUs. You'll do better with fat corporate pigs and bloated suburban homemakers.

I'm with Ken. A little chilly this morning. It might take me an extra 30 seconds to warm up at the gym.

Well, sure, but those people have some measure of usefulness. You don't cut down a healthy tree for the fireplace, you burn the dead wood.

Besides, hippie resin not only warms, it mellows.

It's being called the "Snowlocaust" elsewhere.
