Ok, one more time:
1. There's excess capacity for charging cars at night.
2. There's value in non-petroleum fueled cars beyond their "Green" factor. For instance, we don't have to make billionaires out of terrorist-funding Saudis.
3. As much as you don't like it, electric cars are "Greeener" than IC. Electric cars use fossil fuel at 20 to 25 percent efficiency (this figure includes transmission losses at 70%, which can easily be improved). Sucks, huh? IC cars typically operates at about 15 percent efficiency. Oops.
4. The US can "fuel" electric cars independently, with either coal, gas, hydro, or nuke plants. Electric vehicles make a great case for nuke plants, even for the Birkenstock crowd.

I know you don't like to be confused with the facts, so roll out your political rhetoric about evil commie liberals prying your SUVs from your cold, dead hands.
