So the citizens of Maine, the vast majority of whom do not own obscenely-loud Harleys and thus hate the f*** out of them, have been complaining to their legislators. And their legislators, shockingly unimpressed by the freedom-loving minority of leather-clad jerks, have been listening.

Enquiries to the police have led to the curious assertion by the gendarmerie that they are powerless to enforce anti-noise ordinances without some iron-clad proof of excessive noisiness (despite being perfectly capable of issuing fix-it tickets to cars with broken mufflers that are about 33% as loud as a Harley). Cynics argue that the constables simply think Harleys are wicked cool and won't hassle them.

So the legislators have taken it out of the poor, helpless law enforcement officers' hands by passing a law, effective 2012, that motorcycles now will have to affix those ugly inspection stickers to their bikes (previously, we just needed to carry them). And a motorcycle will not pass inspection without having an EPA-approved exhaust, rendering my quiet Yoshi illegal under a law designed to curb excessive noise.

Meanwhile, Harley-friendly inspectors will no doubt continue to pass, and the Maine constabulary will continue to turn a deaf ear to, illegally-piped Hogs. And I'll have to shell out $400 bucks or more for a new pipe, or put my heavy-ass stocker back on.

So, to all of you "freedom-loving" assh****, f*** you very much for depriving me of some of mine. I despise you selfish, sociopathic f***s.

Make your own inspection sticker with a laser printer and some tape. Worked for me when I lived in Virginia and drove a '41 Master Delux Chevy. Of course we didn't have computers back then, so I just drew it by hand. Fooled the gate guards at NAS Oceana.

I run stock, if I wanted to lose 5lbs off the bike I'd go on a diet.

And, what if the stock exhaust is no longer available? Cars can use suitable replacement exhaust components, why can't we?

I m not in support of loud bikes, but this is a little Draconian.
