Default RIP Mike Lucas

Hey everybody, just found out, a friend of my father's from the Vietnam War just passed away. He was relatively young, and obviously didn't deserve the night sweats, drug addictions, and schizophrenia he inherited from serving in that war. I'm aware those things don't happen to every soldier coming home, but it hit him hard. He wasn't a rider, but he was a good good guy and wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off his back. Please raise a glass. Luke, sail on brother.

Sorry to hear about your friend. It's a trip we all make, some sooner than others. I'm sure he had some good as well as bad memories from the Vietnam conflict. We all can't be warriors. God speed.

I'll raise a glass tonight in his honor.

Post-war syndrome is not limited only to Vietnam veterans, but is the lasting legacy from any conflict.

What may be different about Viet Nam is that it was our last war fought, for the most part, by draftees. There were a lot of people in that war who didn't want to be there. Add that to the fact that so many soldiers were treated badly when they came back, and a situation that's difficult for any soldier was near impossible for many Viet Nam vets.

Godspeed to your Amigo.
