No way, Jose, I live for that crap. I'm never happier than when I'm on a boat on the ocean. Besides, Captains drink rum and eat much better than the crew.

Tommy Loy, the cabin boy,
the dirty little nipper.
Filled his ass
with broken glass,
and circumcised the skipper.

I always enjoyed being out at sea, going back in the Navy was always my fall-back plan if I couldn't get anything going on the outside. Fortunately I got on at the U of W and made a go of it.

Of course being on a carrier in peacetime is somewhat different than a sailing ship during the Napoleonic era, no rum for one thing and nobody lobbing dirty great cannon balls at you for another. Still the ocean is the ocean and the view is the same. Had I re-upped I'd have transferred to a Destroyer or Fast Frigate, much better duty than a bird farm.

After almost 20 years of working with computers and networks, I got sick of it and went and got my USCG Master's license in '05. Then Kenneth Jr.'s Mom got cancer and I had to go back to a "real" job. It was fun while it lasted though. Maybe when he's off to college I can go back to it. Getting paid for running boats was about as close to Heaven on Earth as I've been.

I'll say. A Can will hit liberty ports on a monthly basis while you suckers on the Bird Farms go nuts 90 days+ at a time.
