Healthcare coverage can absolutely work that way. It's your state that dictates the programs that are offered by the underwriters. If State Insurance commissioners would worry themselves with only the rate changes instead of deciding what they "have" to sell then prices would stablize.
Sorry, I meant health insurance. And I might be able to buy it that way, not sure. I would like to get it ala carte from an employer, too. I need major catastrophe coverage and maybe something for a checkup once a year. Being able to compare state to state would be nice too. I'm not familiar enough with the state to state differences to be able to comment on that.

But seriously, can I get some ala carte CABLE TELEVISION??

I'm very happy with my employer provided health care, I'll be even happier when I can cast my vote against every democrat on the ballot. Why I'd vote for a first term Governor who didn't even finish her term before I'd vote for any one of these d*ck breaths in office now...............
