Default Enough Edward Hermann already

When I turn on a documentary on the History Channel or Discovery, and I hear Edward Hermann's voice, I want to put a bullet in my skull.

The guy could put me to sleep narrating a nunchuk fight between a naked Rebecca Romaijn and a kodiak bear wearing a Jake Gyllenhaal skin suit.

He's on everything. Where are the other narrators? The ones who don't suck? Is Peter Coyote really that busy with other work?

Now THAT's something I'd pay to see. That would really beat the shyt out of that stupid ultimate fighting crap.

It could be worse.

There could be an 11-part miniseries narrated by Oprah...

Are you implying that it was a mistake to have the miracle of Earth's diverse and spectacular bio-system narrated by a woman who caters to the fascinations of American housewives?

He has gotten pretty old...like that professor in college that could put a room to sleep in 30 seconds or less...

Mike Rowe is good narrator, he does a lot of good shows.

No!

Not at all!

But I swear, if I had heard "echo-system" one more time, I would've run off screaming...

WWII documentaries should only be narrated by British dudes. The classic "World at War" series made the war 25% more evil by using Laurence Olivier.

"The First World War" used another British guy (didn't catch his name) whose voice contained a very subtle and effective melange of disgusted, angry sadness. It was pitch-perfect for that war.

Edward Hermann? Nazis, cowboys, lunar missions, they all get the same pedestrian monotone.
